    夜上海 Yè Shanghai - Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

    Cho and I are crazy about peking ducks.  So, for a friends gathering, we suggested on having peking duck again.  We were planning to go to Spring Deer, one of the famous place for peking duck in Hong Kong.  I called them to try to book a table, but the arrogant lady told me it's all full and if I want a Friday night time slot, then I should call again next year.  They are so mean/too full of themselves and I certainly am not pushing the gathering to next year.  So, searching online, I found this place that is on the Michelin's recommended list of restaurants.  Fancy looking restaurant above Marco Polo Hotel.  I thought it would be hard to book, but turns out to be the opposite.  I got the time slot I wanted easily.  Honestly, Spring Deer may be famous for their duck, but from the looks of the restaurant, it seems pretty local and run down.  It would definitely be more comfortable sitting in Ye Shanghai.

    Sitting down, we immediately had a pretty big dish of Homemade XO Broad Bean Chili Sauce waiting for us at the table.  I was quite surprise as restaurants are usually quite stingy about providing this sauce.  But then again, with they price they are charging us, why not?

    Sliced pork served with garlic.  Mmmm, yummy.  It's fatty pork belly, but they prepared it in a way that doesn't feel greasy/fatty at all.

    Hot and sour soup.  I love hot and sour soup. 

    Steamed pork dumplings.  The dough skin is so thin that I ripped it accidentally when trying to pick it up and the soup inside drained...what a waste.  Other than that, it was delicious.  I need to practice on picking up these dumplings next time.

    Pan-fried pork buns

    We ordered a whole roasted duck to be made into 2 course.  The first one is just the normal crispy skin served with pancakes.  I love how neat they slice the skin.  I like how thin it is and it's just skin with no meat.

    The pancakes were also very thin and soft~

    I really love how they sliced away the fat underneath the skin.  Less greasy and less guilty when eating it.

    Then comes the second course of the duck, sautéed shredded duck meat with bean sprouts

    Dan dan noodles in peanut sauce.  Can never go wrong with this.  

    Braised Tianjin cabbage in cream sauce.  I usually hate this dish, but surprisingly, it was good.  Creamy sauce covered cabbage~

    Stir-fried rice cakes with pork and vegetables.  I guess we ordered this by mistake.  Not that it wasn't good, but we were already full by the time this dish arrived.

    Desserts was yummy.  Don't know the name of it.

    There were 5 of us and was around HK$350/person.  Not bad, considering it's at Marco Polo hotel, a nice environment, comfortable seating and all.  And most importantly, the food was great.
