Day 1: Meerkat Cafe in Hongdae - Seoul, South Korea

Saw there is a meerkat cafe in Hongdae.  We've never had a close up experience with these little wild animals.  They are always such cuties on TV.  It's a little hidden, just look up and you will see some sort of sign saying meerkat cafe.

If in doubt, there's a sign at the front entrance of the building as well.  I thought there would only be meerkat.  Turns out there are other animals too.  Before I came, I thought of visiting a raccoon cafe, but I see this place already has raccoon.  Saving a trip to another raccoon cafe.

Finally arrived!  Opening hour is from noon to 10pm.

The entrance is double gated to avoid letting the animals escape as some of them roam freely in the cafe.  There are a couple cute kangaroos!  They are so friendly and curious, just like cats. We had to change into crocs like shoes they provided when entering.  Although it's called a cafe, there really isn't any drinks made in shop or food to serve.  We have to purchase a bottle drink (juice / water) up front in order to enter.

Such a sweet little kangaroo!

They are so gentle!

The meerkats are in a little play pan thing.  People can go in to interact with them with the supervision of the staff.  Each group of people can go in for about 10 minutes and for once only.  We would sanitize our hands, take off those ugly crocs and sit down on a matted area to play with them.  We can't pick them up though.  We can just gently pet it when it comes to us.  They are very active and loves to dig into your clothes.  Absolutely can't wear anything that tear/snag easily.

They place is pretty warm and humid, probably to replicate the natural environment they live in.  The staffs are really good to the animals and the place is very clean.  The staffs are constantly cleaning after the animals.

There are cats, raccoons, kangaroos, foxes and some animals with unknown names.  Not a lot of people, so I feel it's good for the animals.

There are 2 raccoons.  However, they were sleeping during the whole time we were there.  After all, they are nocturnal animals.  We are not allowed to enter their play pan when they are sleeping.
